Comprehensive Hair Loss Evaluation & Treatment
Hair thinning and hair loss affect millions of men and women and can significantly impactconfidence and quality of life. At Turner Dermatology, we specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of hair loss in both men and women using a comprehensive, medical, and evidence-based approach.
Every patient is evaluated by a board-certified dermatology provider who performs a detailed medical history and thorough scalp and hair examination. When appropriate, advanced diagnostic tools such as trichoscopy or scalp biopsy are utilized to accurately identify the cause of hair loss and to distinguish between scarring and non-scarring alopecia.
We diagnose and treat a full spectrum of hair loss disorders and offer a complete diagnostic workup, including targeted laboratory testing when indicated, to identify contributing medical, hormonal, inflammatory, or autoimmune factors. Our approach focuses on uncovering the underlying cause of hair loss and delivering individualized treatment plans grounded in peer-reviewed, evidence-based medicine.

Medical Scalp Injections (Kenalog)
Intralesional Kenalog (triamcinolone) injections are an established, evidence-based treatment for inflammatory and autoimmune hair loss conditions, including alopecia areata, LPP, and FFA. These injections help suppress inflammation around the hair follicle, slow disease progression, and preserve existing hair.
Kenalog injections are performed in-office and are often combined with topical therapies, oral medications, and regenerative treatments such as PRP or PRF as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
What is PRP for Hair Loss?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy involves drawing a small amount of your blood, processing it in a centrifuge to isolate concentrated platelets and plasma, then injecting that solution into the scalp. Platelets contain powerful growth factors that help stimulate dormant hair follicles, improve blood flow to the scalp, and enhance hair thickness and density.
Benefits of PRP:
- Strengthens existing hair
- Promotes new hair growth
- Reduces hair shedding
- Improves scalp health
- Minimally invasive, with no downtime
What is PRF for Hair Loss?
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a more advanced form of PRP. It is also derived from your own blood, but it’s processed without anticoagulants or additives, creating a fibrin matrix that allows growth factors to be released more slowly over time. PRF also contains a higher concentration of white blood cells, platelets, and stem cells compared to PRP—offering enhanced regenerative potential.
Why Choose PRF?
- 100% natural and additive-free
- Longer-lasting growth factor release
- Higher concentration of healing cells
- Improved stimulation of hair follicle activity

What to Expect During Treatment
Each session involves:
- A quick blood draw
- Centrifugation to isolate PRP or PRF
- Scalp injections into areas of thinning or shedding
Treatment is well-tolerated and takes about 30–45 minutes. For best results, we recommend a series of sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 6–12 months.
Ideal Candidates
PRP and PRF are most effective for patients in the early stages of hair thinning or androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness). They may also support hair restoration following surgery or in conjunction with other treatments like topical minoxidil or oral medications.

Important Note
Hair loss varies from person to person, and treatment plans are individualized based on each patient’s diagnosis, medical history, and goals. Not every treatment is appropriate for every patient.
Some medications and therapies may be prescribed off-label, which is a common and wellestablished practice in dermatology. All treatments are recommended after a comprehensive evaluation and discussion of potential benefits and risks.
Results vary, and ongoing care and follow-up help optimize safety and outcomes.
